Meet the Staff

Sarah Houchen - Head of Learning and Hedgehogs Class Teacher

I have been at Withington for 11 years now and during my time taught most year groups! I joined Withington in 2007. So how did I get here!! I gained a BA in Geography and English at De Montfort University in Bedford and then continued my teaching dream by gaining a PGCE in Primary Education. I went on to teach at Shackleton Lower School for 4 years, before moving home to Hereford. My role at Withington has changed during my time here and I am very excited to now be Head of Learning, alongside this I also wear many other hats these include; Classteacher, Head of EYFS, SENCO and Designated safeguarding lead. I thoroughly enjoy my job, it is wonderful to watch children blossom and grow into independent young learners during their time in my class. My classroom is a fun and exciting place to be, we learn through play opportunities and going on lots of adventures!

Beki Hatch - Foxes Class Teacher

Hi, I’m Beki Hatch. I have been at Withington for nearly six years now and have been part of lots of exciting changes within the school along the way. I always knew I wanted to be either a teacher (or a journalist), and after completing my English literature degree at the University of Gloucestershire, I took the plunge and completed my PGCE with The Robert Owen Society. I have several roles within school, such as head of our brand new Eco-Council, and co-ordinator of science, computer science and music. I love my job, and take delight in seeing the children grow and get excited about learning. I feel learning should be fun, and I feel my personality and enthusiasm helps me bring this across to the children in class.

Hannah Burgess - Dolphins Class Teacher

I am the newest member of the Withington team and love my job teaching Year 3/4. I joined as an NQT after completing a 3 year teaching degree at Worcester University and have now been at the school for over 2 years, the time has flown by! I am currently P.E coordinator (among many other roles) and am looking forward to watching the children participate in different sporting fixtures and events - they always put in a fantastic team effort! I enjoy teaching practical lessons where children have to be up and about, working hard together. My main aim is to make my classroom a fun and happy place that the children enjoy walking into.

Sian Keen - Kestrels Class Teacher

Hello I’m Miss Keen, the Kestrels Class teacher. I really love my job and am always looking for new and exciting ways to teach (and learn). I am a creative person and really enjoy making things (I hope you get the chance to visit our class and see for yourself). I also appreciate a good book and getting messy in the garden. I currently lead Humanities, Art & Design Technology, British Values and EAL. My qualifications include a BSc in Psychology from Aston University and a P.G.C.E. from the University ofGloucestershire in 2011.
